Appointments
Appointments are scheduled at intervals prescribed by Dr. Flanagan. It is important to maintain these intervals for proper progression of treatment. We make every attempt to remain on schedule and we realize how important your time is during your daily activities.
We will work with you as much as possible to schedule appointments around your work or school schedule. However, we cannot see all of our patients before or after school. All kids must miss school sometimes in order to come to their appointments.
Successful orthodontics requires a series of scheduled appointments throughout treatment. We see patients approximately every 4 to 6 weeks. The average time for most appointments is 15 to 30 minutes and they are scheduled throughout the day.
If you are late for an appointment, we will accomplish as much as possible within the allotted time, but may have to reschedule you to complete the necessary treatment. In the event that you may need to reschedule an appointment, we ask that you contact our office as soon as possible. We will reschedule the appointment and keep you or your child on track with your treatment plan.
First Visit
Each individual’s orthodontic problem is different and deserves personalized attention. Your initial visit is an important opportunity for us to get to know you and what you want to accomplish.
We believe that orthodontic problems involve more than just teeth, so we look at the entire facial structure when treating our patients. Quality care and individual attention is the hallmark of our practice. We pride ourselves in taking the time necessary to explain our procedures each step of the way. The more you know about your care, the better the results.
At your first visit, Dr. Flanagan will perform a comprehensive orthodontic examination to determine the status of your orthodontic health. If it is determined that orthodontic care is necessary, we will make a recommendation based on your specific needs, explaining the procedures involved and how long treatment should take. We will also provide you with the payment options available.

How does orthodontic insurance work?
There are many different agreements between insurance carriers and their subscribers and each contract provides a different benefit. Orthodontic insurance generally differs from regular dental insurance in that each insured individual usually has a lifetime maximum benefit for orthodontic services, as opposed to a yearly maximum benefit.
Our staff will help you determine your insurance benefits and provide you with the necessary forms for reimbursement. We will gladly assist you in submitting both predetermination and initial insurance claims pertaining to charges for care rendered in our office.
However, please be aware that our primary financial relationship is with our patients and their families, not with their respective insurance companies. Final responsibility for collection of benefits from the insurance company rests with the insured patient or their family, and they are responsible for payment of all fees incurred.
